Ashleigh's Beautiful Monarch Butterfly

I got the swan plants from Mitre 10. I put them on a table in the sun. The caterpillars ate and ate the leaves. They hanged down from a leaf and curled up into a chrysalis. The chrysalis was green at first but then it went clear and I could see the orange and black butterfly inside. It took a while. One came out yesterday and one came out the day before. By Ashleigh.

But wait there is more...
Asheligh's first butterfly emerged from the chrysalis while Ashleigh was at school... SO... Ashleigh's Mum videoed it and loaded it onto you tube for us to see.

Click HERE to see that video.

We loved watching this video, it is so amazing to see and share our learning inside and outside the classroom!

  1. WOW Ashleigh that was amazing to watch. Lachlan was busy telling us all about the butterfly on our way home from school! Is the butterfly still at your house? or did it fly away! We think it is so amazing how it can be a caterpillar with all those legs then turn into a butterfly with beautiful wings!
Such a wonderful thing to share with your class :-)
